Some issues. (1) on originally taking on our account you failed to spot an error made by our previous salary bookkeeper; which led to HMRC taking an extra £2,000 out of our account. My view is that you definitely should have spotted this and should not have submitted our first PAYE so that we were landed with this extra bill. Not only did we have to wait several months for HMRC to resolve this, you charged us a significant sum for resolving an issue that you should have spotted straight away. (2) You have failed to submit our VAT on time. I think (have not checked) this happened once before; we were given a VAT penalty point, which you managed to get removed. HOWEVER we have just received another VAT penalty point. I was only given the approved VAT Return to sign on 5 May; which i immediately signed. It should have been sent to HMRC by 7 May. However the penalty point notice was issued . THIS IS VERY ANNOYING. (3) You gave me (perfectly correct) advice that i could not reclaim VAT on a particular invoice. However, I would have liked an accountant to have also given me advice if and how I could legally reclaim VAT in similar circumstances. (In the end, I asked AI for advice) – How would you describe our performance overall?
